Day 293 - Last Night Before Going Back To Work

Tonight is the last night before Anthony has to go back to work. :( I promised him we could do whatever he wanted for the evening. He chose Chinese food for dinner, from Fortune House. After Kaycee went to bed, we played Sentinals of the Multiverse and then watched an episode of Sons of Anarchy. Overall, it was a great evening and a fantastic way to wrap up his break!

Thank you God for one last time to spend quality time with Anthony before he returns to work. It was such an amazing 2 weeks with him home. We'll miss having him around during the days.

Hanging Out With Truett and Zoe

This afternoon we hung out with Zoe and Truett while Molly and Rob to Gage to get his bible! We ate Little Ceasers pizza for lunch, read books to Kaycee and played in the snow. Then Molly and I went for a milkshake at Steak N Shake. I love that Steak N Shake is becoming our thing!

Day 292 - Rozni's Annual Game Day

Tonight we went to the Annual Game Day at the Rozni's. Anthony had been looking forward to this day for a long time. A whole party dedicated to playing games (mostly games that I don't like playing). He won his first game by a lot. I mostly played with Kaycee and watched the games. After I put Kaycee down to sleep (in her carseat, upstairs), we played a new cooperative game. I can't remember the title, but it had something to do with witches. Anyway, it was a blast and Dad beat my by 1 point. We're already anticipating next years Game Day!

Lord, thank you for friends! Help us to be a light in their life!

Breakfast With Amy

This morning Kaycee and I drove up to meet Amy at IHOP in Gurnee. I miss her and was super excited to be able to see her while she was in town visiting. We even got a great picture of the 3 of us!

Day 291 - Monicals With The Hedges

It was sooo good to see Lexi and Aunt Beth tonight. We drove out to Monicals in Manteno (where we normally meet up with GG and GGpa). Unfortunately, they weren't there.  But Kaycee played with Lexi and Aunt Beth. She even played on the floor, crawling around every where. I had to be extra careful, because of all the food that fell on the floor. Pizza is a slipper finger food for a baby!

Thank you God for the chance to see Lexi and Aunt Beth. Help us to see them more often in 2015!

Elephant Cakes

This week's cake order was for a 1 year old's birthday. The order was for 3 cakes total, 2 smash cakes and 1 large cake. The smash cakes were white cake with white butter cream icing and fondant decorations. The large cake was a marble cake with New York cheesecake mousse filling and covered in fondant with fondant decorations. The cakes turned out fantastic, and a review said they tasted great as well!

Day 290 - New Years Day Game Day at the Carris's

Pictures coming soon

Washing the lizard

On our way home from lunch with Patti and Nicole, we stopped by the Smith's house to bathe their lizard again. This time Kaycee was interested in Buggle and wanted to interact with her. Buggle was not a particular fan Kaycee reading out and trying to grab her. However, it proved to be an amusing interaction.  The Smiths all loved the pictures of Buggle and Kaycee.

Lunch With Nicole And Patti

Last night was a very interesting night of sleep. Kaycee took a while to go back to sleep after we transferred her from her car seat to her crib. And then she proceeded to get up at her normal time. Life with a baby...

Today Kaycee and I drove up to Gurnee to have lunch with Nicole and Patti. Nicole had reached out to Patti and I to help her with a project for her health class students. After we ate lunch, she interviewed us, video taping on the iPad, asking us questions about intimacy before marriage. Her health students were really interested in how it's possible to have a relationship without sexual intimacy before marriage. Patti and I were able to give them some perspective, based off of  our life experiences, that maybe they don't get at home. It was a very cool project.

We were sitting in the farthest corner in the back, to allow for some privacy and a quieter atmosphere for the interview. Unfortunately, another family was seated relatively close to us. There was a grandmother in this family who took a liking to Kaycee. She gushed over how adorable Kaycee was, when she first was seated. Then a few minutes later came over and told us that her table took a vote and that they think that she should become Kaycee's grandma. She wanted us to move close to where she lives. I responded by telling her that Kaycee already lives with her great grandmother and didn't really need a new one.  Then a while later she came back and claimed that we didn't love Kaycee enough and that she should take her home with her. To which I replied by telling her that Kaycee's daddy and mommy might have something to say to that. We love her very much. A little while later, Patti noticed that they were taking pictures of Kaycee, very clearly taking pictures of her. There was nobody sitting behind us, we were up against the wall, plus we were the only two tables in the whole section. Fortunately, they left while we were recording and so we couldn't have another conversation with her. Some people, I tell ya!
