Day 355 - Zucchini Taco Boats

Tonight I made Zucchini Taco Boats for dinner tonight. Kaycee was quite enjoying it! Isn't she cute?

Giraffe Love

Kaycee loves to snuggle her giraffes. Even though it only lasts for a few seconds each time, but she loves it. She crawls right onto her giraffe pillow pet or lays right down onto Giraffy! She's cute!

Lunch with Marty

Today Marty came over for lunch. We started off in the family room playing with Kaycee. Then we moved into the Kitchen to have lunch and do some coloring. After dessert we moved back to the family room to say goodbye. Kaycee was so good and Marty was so happy to get to spend time with her. Grammy was very happy to see Marty and watch Marty and Kaycee interact. It was a great day!

What's This?

"Momma, I found a basket with stuff in it, on the changing table shelves. It's got things in it, I've never seen before. Like this. What's this?"
She has no idea what a pacifier is and how to use it. It's quite hilarious to watch her try to chew it.

Day 354 - Helping Grammy Walk

Apparently, Grammy needed some help walking to her room after dinner. Kaycee was up for the task!

Thank you God that Kaycee and Grammy love to spend time together!

Doctors Appt

Today Kaycee had her 6 month follow up doctor's appointment with Dr. Cheng. First she had an ultrasound. She did great! I had to wake her up from her nap and then lay her on the table. I held her hands and sang to her while the tech rubbed her belly over and over again. Then the Tech had me roll her over and keep her from crawling away while she rubbed her back too. Kaycee didn't cry or anything, she was perfect!
Then we sat in the waiting room, for what seemed like forever, while we waited to be called back to see Dr. Cheng. Kaycee first was walking the stroller around in circles until she got stuck by a chair and lost it. "That baby's on fire!" Then she had some graham crackers to calm down and played with the car (similar to the one we have at home). Finally, after I asked, we got called back.
The nurse took Kaycee's weight, 19 lbs and 10 oz, then her height, 29.5 in. Then the doctor came in. After looking at the ultrasound, he told us that he was seeing improvement. When she was born her kidney was dialated at a grade 3. At her 6 month ultrasound it had improved to a grade 2. Now it's a lesser grade 2. He said that he'll need to see her every 6 months until she's 2, then every year until at least 4. He also told us that the worst thing we could do for Kaycee would be to try and potty train her too early. It could cause this ugly head to show again and then we would be in trouble. So we have to let potty training happen naturally, even if she's 3 or 4. Ahhh, that sounds horrible. But praise God for a good appointment with good results!

Day 353 - Lunch

After the swimming pool, we went grocery shopping. I bought a tub of chicken salad and a box of croissants for Grammy and I to share, for lunch. After eating a whole hotdog, many strawberries, broccoli and green beans, I gave Kaycee a croissant. She gobbled it up so fast!
Tonight we went to small group at the Carris house. Unfortunately the movie was having a hard time playing, so I was completely distracted and missed a bit of it. But it's the last one of the series and so we finished up our discussion. I think we're going to go into a book study next, which will be fun! Anthony and I even offered to host in the future. I'm really enjoying small group!

God, thank you for opportunities like small group and going to the swimming pool. We are so blessed to be able to do fun things!

Swimming

This morning Kaycee and I went swimming at the Schaumburg Park District indoor pool! Kaycee loves the water and was so excited when we walked onto the pool deck. She was still fully dressed and I wrestled with her to get her swimming suit on. I decided that they yellow swim suit, she had been wearing (3-6mo) was too little for her, so we pulled out this 12 month suit. She's so dang tall the top part and bottom part don't ever meet. It's too early to be having this conversation with her, we're not there yet...
She took a nap in her carseat while I swam laps. I was the ONLY person in the pool. It was quite awkward to have the lifeguard staring at me as I huff and puff down the lane. I didn't quite make it as far as I would have liked to swim. But I did swim, that's what counts!

Day 352 - Filing Up The Van

Tonight Anthony filled up the van, for the first time. We were expecting a horrible gas bill. Today it wasn't too bad. I can't imagine how high it's going to get with gas prices rising.

Thank you God for reliable vehicles that transport us from place to place safely and thank you for the money to keep up the vehicles and put gas in it, when needed.

Hanging at the Tukiendorf's

This afternoon Kaycee and I went to the Tukiendorf's house to hang out with Paul and Kate while Janice and Mark went to a meeting. Paul and I started out doing homework and playing with Legos, then Kaycee woke up from her nap. Kate got home and I encouraged the homework! Fortunately for her, their favorite show came on right in the middle of doing homework. So she took a break while I made dinner. After pasta and garlic bread for dinner, it was more homework ( I helped with math, got my teacher juices flowing!), playing, jammies/teeth, and reading stories. We were on our extra story when Janice and Mark came home. I really should hang out with them more, they're hilarious!!

I'm thankful for friends that I trust with Kaycee, and friends that trust me with their kids!!

Capturing Giraffe

Today I walked into the living room and saw this. Kaycee must have captured giraffe and didn't want to let him go. Is this a sign of things to come?

Day 351 - Repairing A Watch

I did it! I had this cheap watch from Target that I really wanted to wear but couldn't because it was too small.  I finally asked my dad about how to take the clasp off the watch and he showed me how. I popped off the clasp, strung a pretty ribbon through the sides and tied it into a bow. It's a big bow and I might need to cut that down (plus glue or sew it, so it doesn't come undone), but otherwise I really love it. I think I'm actually going to start wearing a watch now! Thanks Dad!

Thank you God for the ability to adjust things to work in our lives! (be gumby!)

Panda Lunch

After the basketball game we went to a late lunch at Panda Express. I'm learning and I did not order Kaycee a kids meal. She ate off my plate and I still took a box home of left overs! She loved the chow mein and string bean chicken! She's particularly cute when eating noodles!!

Caleb's Basketball Game

After church we went to Caleb's Arlington Height's basketball game. They won! Nolan Ray and Nene were there to support Caleb too! It was fun to sit with everyone and watch Caleb play. Anthony, however, had something to say about everything going on (the team, the players, the refs, etc.) Apparently, Caleb is learning all his bad habits (reaching, not looking at the ball and not shooting 3 pointers) from this team. Hopefully, Anthony can correct that!!

Sunday Dress

I wore my new dress for the first time today! I'm so excited about it. I know that it's winter outside, but I'm boycotting and wearing a 1 shoulder!! I'm so excited to have this dress and to wear it around!! It's perfect for me!
