Getting Stuck, Swimming

I finished Anthony's scarf today. It's looking good!

Kaycee and I were supposed to go swimming with Aunt Molly and Truett today. We were almost late, so I was fairly quick getting out of the house. As I was backing out of the driveway the wheel hit a patch of ice and ran me over a huge block of snow at the edge of the drive. We got stuck. I felt like a total idiot. With Kaycee and Tripp in the car, I started to shovel snow out from under the car. A gentleman from down the street came out of nowhere to help me. He must have been sent from God. He shoveled out all the snow from under the car, even getting down on his hands and knees and even laying on his back to get the car off the snow pile. I was so thankful. We even made it to swim with Aunt Molly and Truett!

It's a Tuesday

Not a whole lot to say about this random Tuesday! I love simple days at home.

We did move Grammy's easy chair out of her room. She was having a hard time getting out of the chair and it was difficult to help her. So we moved the chair and replaced it with a wheel chair. We're going to get a lift chair soon!

Back to Work

We went back to regular life today. It was a sad day to not have Daddy home. I had gotten quite used to having him home with me! We made it through and were very excited when he came home. Kaycee and I did regular life stuff, like playing, eating food, cleaning up, making a mess, and so on! We did grocery shop and she did get a few bumps on the head from running through the house, but overall a pretty low key day.
Anthony and I are trying something new for lunch. I have prepared different kind of salads for every day. Greens, meat, toppings, it's all prepared a head of time, except for the avocado and apples (don't want those to get brown). We'll see how this goes...

Isreal Houghton/Chilis/Giraffee Jammies

Anthony and I attended service at Willow Creek this morning instead of Cardinal Drive. Isreal Houghton was leading worship, how could we pass that up?!!? Alaina met us there. It was soo different than worshiping at Cardinal Drive, yet so AWESOME! It made me so happy to see how excited and happy Anthony was during the whole service/concert.
On our way out of Willow we ran into the Pricketts, which was nifty! Then we headed to Chili's for lunch with Auntie Laina. Anthony and I split a salad and endless enchiladas. Super Yummy!
We turned the heat down, again, in our house tonight! This makes me super happy, however it makes Anthony cold in our bedroom. There must be a draft from a window or something. He want's to put plastic over the window, I dont. I love sleeping when it's cold. Getting all snuggly under the blankets is the best. However, I spend most of my nights sleeping on top of the blankets because it's too hot in this house. However tonight's going to be wonderfully cold!

Lizard/Rozni's Game Day/ER for Finger Infection

Anthony had a basketball practice this morning, so Kaycee and I went to bathe a lizard. Buggle was well behaved and Kaycee even touched her! We spent lunch/nap time at Mom and Dad's house. I crocheted for a long time this afternoon, learning a new pattern for a scarf for Anthony! Hopefully it's manly enough, who even knows how to pick a manly scarf pattern? lol

This afternoon we went to the Rozni's annual game day. It was super fun, until I got a bummer call from the new caregiver at home. Grammy was struggling to get out of her chair, so the caregiver needed me to come home and help get her in bed. Mom agreed to go with me, so that she could drive my car back (so that Anthony could stay). Not 5 minutes later, while getting my children together and ready to leave, I got another phone call from Grammy's house phone. This time it was Kevin the paramedic. The caregiver had not waited for me to come home, instead she called the paramedics to come help get Grammy back into the chair. I can only imagine what that must have been like for Grammy. The paramedics rushing in, talking loudly and quickly, checking all her vitals without her understanding the situation. Kevin was looking for a base line in order to determine if they needed to transport her to the hospital. Grammy was acting completely normal as far as I could tell over the phone, but the paramedics had to stay until I arrived anyway. So mom and I rushed home. Sure enough, Grammy was acting very alert and normal, so the paramedics finished up their paperwork and headed on their way. Afterwards we discussed the situation with the caregiver. I believe that she tried to change Grammy in the chair because she was having a hard time standing her up, which caused her to slip farther off the chair. This was the first time this caregiver had ever worked with Grammy, so that probably didn't help the situation either. I'm glad Grammy didn't fall, but I don't think the paramedics were necessary. I hope they didn't scare her too much.

While at Game Day, my middle finger on my right hand started to hurt. By the time I got home it had started to swell. By the time Anthony got home it was tingly and pulsing. I did some research online and became concerned that it was a finger infection. So Anthony and I called the nurses hotline from our insurance, and sure enough the nurse thought it was a finger infection. She recommended that I go to ER because it sounded like the infection was spreading quickly and she was concerned that it would spread to my blood. So at 11pm, off I went to the ER. I called Mom and Dad because they were on their way home from Game Day. Mom met me at ER and kept me company while we waited. They were super busy and we could tell it was going to be a long night. They ordered an xray for my finger, which they could not do unless they were able to get a negative pregnancy test from me. I am NOT pregnant, thank you very much! However, after 2 hours of waiting in the lobby they brought me to a room because the doc was going to see me. Doc. E had jokingly told the nurses that he would only see an extra patient, after his shift was over, if they had a middle finger issue. Fortunately, that was me! After squeezing my finger he decided that I indeed had a finger infection, but less serious that the nurses hotline nurse thought. He canceled the xray and cut a small slit into the finger to drain it. Then he squeezed my finger like crazy to get all the puss out. To his benefit he did offer to let me squeeze it myself, which I thought was a particularly terrible idea. After this he sent me on my way! Thankfully, this was not a serious issue but it was kind of a bummer that I could have taken care of it at home, if I had known what to do. I am thankful that he was willing to look at my finger and got me out of the ER so quickly. 2am isn't too bad for a bedtime right?

(sorry for the inappropriate finger orientation)

Polar Bear Plunge/Squirrel/Game Night

Today was an interesting day to say the least. It started off with me going to the Polar Bear Plunge. After a particularly rough morning at home, I was only 2 minutes late to the church. I was told we needed to be there at 9am, everyone else was told 9:30a. Grr Once everyone was there we got on our way. We got to the beach, walked to the water, took a group picture then made a mad dash for the water. Every was stripping down to their water clothes as quickly as they could. Sarah, Christina, Rebecca and I went all together. We should have walked farther into the water because as we all laid down to get completely wet, we couldn't make it completely under the water. But we all got wet, which is what counted. Running back to the beach was really difficult when you can't feel your toes. I was told that I wouldn't be able to use my fingers, and they were right. But I did manage to get socks on, along with my sweats and towel. We then went to McDonalds for hot chocolate and snacks.

While at the Polar Bear Plunge, Anthony informed me that an animal fell down the chimney and was stuck in our fire place. The guys at the Polar Bear Plunge were really excited to help us get rid of the animal. Thankfully, it was an exciting experience. Willie, Zach, Ian and Rob all had a plan to catch the squirrel in garbage bags when they opened the fireplace. However, that is not what happened. The squirrel got loose in the Family Room. After running around, chasing it for a while Ian caught it in a box. They slid a board under the box and took te squirrel outside, where it made a mad dash for the back fence. I think it's time to get the chimney covered.

Unfortunately, we canceled our lunch plans with Tom and Becky due to the unknown future of the squirrel in the fireplace. Hopefully, we'll reschedule quickly!

After a relaxing few hours, we went to the Carris's for a spaghetti dinner and games. It was great to hang out with good friends and be relaxed and such an exciting day!
