Tripp had his 4 month doctor's appointment today. Grammy had a follow up appointment with Dr. Kuhlman at the same time. Mom took Grammy to her appointment and I took the kids to Tripp's. Before we left for the appointment, Kaycee made 1 suspicious comment... "Momma, my ear hurts." (while tugging on her ear) Well, that's all it took to have the doctor look at her ears.
Tripp weighed in at 15lbs and 3 ounces. Bigger than he was at his last appointment, but dropping into the 50th %tile for weight. Doc. isn't concerned, but did give us the information about starting solids. We can start whenever we want to, I think we'll wait for a while.
Dr. Kuhlman was not thrilled with how Grammy was responding during her appointment and her overall demeanor. He told mom to take her to ER for a full work up. Mom ultimately decided to bring her home hoping that we could get a hold of her MD at home doctor and have him come out tomorrow instead. However, while Mom was at work we decided that it would be easier to spend the evening in the ER (while Anthony could be home with the kids) than to spend tomorrow in the Urgent Care with both kids. So we took her to ER. Thankfully, they were not busy and got her back into a room quickly. They ultimately determined that her blood work showed that she was dehydrated. (This totally baffles me because I was giving her exactly how much nutritional feedings through her tube and water to flush the tube as I was instructed by the doctor.) So, they're going to admit her and re-hydrate her. She'll be in the hospital for a couple of days. Then maybe they'll send her to rehab to get strong before coming home. I'm not sure that I want her gone at rehab, maybe we can have a physical therapist come more often to the house instead. But then again, it could be helpful for her to be strong again. I'm just praying this is not a drawn out thing and that she comes home soon. It's hard on everyone to have her away from home.
