Friday Camping in the Rain

After spending the morning packing and getting ready to camp, we finally set off around 3pm. We spent some time in traffic and didn't arrive to Jellystone until closer to 5ish. I was nervous about not being the first people from our group to arrive; I didn't want the campground to give anyone a hard time. Fortunately, we were the first people to arrive.
Unfortunately, we arrived in the rain. According to our weather app, it was supposed to continue to rain all evening. So we toughed it out and put up our tent in the rain. We were soaked. It had been almost a year since we put up our tent (last summer we camped 1 time with our new tent), so we weren't completely sure how it was to go up. We'll know better for next time. Kaycee played in the van while we set up the tent, and hid Anthony's keys. That was a fun hunt!
Once our tent was up and we had finished unpacking into it, the rain stopped... of course... The rest of the evening was nice with no rain. The ground was wet with puddles, but what did that matter? We were already soaked.
Dinner was taco's in a bag, except in a bowl. We borrowed the Pilotte's camping stove to heat up our meat and enjoyed our dinner. After dark, we sat by the Pilotte's camp fire and enjoyed everyone's company. My parents came after dark and we heated up some meat for their taco's. Dessert was smores. It was a great end to a rocky start!
